Smoked pear is a taste many Ukrainians remember from their grandmother's uzvar, a traditional dried-fruit drink, yet it is almost forgotten in modern gastronomy. Chef Yevhen Klopotenko and Kontapel, a maker of authentic Ukrainian drinks, brought it back as the first gastronomic liqueur. The label design turned the collaboration into a recognizable product that tells its story before the first sip.

Kontapel
A taste that lives on
Tradition does not disappear. It changes form and lives on. Smoked pear moves from the home kitchen into a modern gastronomic liqueur. Pear orchard branches and the terracotta color convey the taste, while the engraved portrait of Klopotenko, his signature and the Kontapel calligraphy stand for those who gave this taste a new life.

About the business
Kontapel revives authentic Ukrainian drinks that were almost lost to modern culture. The Kopchena Hrusha liqueur was created together with Yevhen Klopotenko, the chef who is making Ukrainian cuisine known around the world. The drink brings attention back to one of the traditional Ukrainian flavors, and a private presentation on May 5, 2026 was its first appearance before the public.

Requirements for the visual identity
The engraved portrait of Klopotenko is recognizable at once, yet it does not look like a celebrity photo on a bottle. It is drawn in the same graphic language as the branches, leaves and fruit, so the chef's personality and the product read as one whole.
Deep terracotta refers to smoked pear and the warmth of a wood-fired stove. Yellow fruit add contrasting accents, and curved branches form a frame around the central image.
